Alemania: International Fall-Potato-Fair in Hamburg expecting increased turnout

The exclusive meeting of the sector on Deck 10 in the Maritime Museum has been attracting many visitors and exhibitors every year.

For the first time this year, the company ENGIE Refrigeration B.V. is introducing their new solutions in cooling. Visitors can gather information from around 30 exhibitors about company news or simply establish contacts.

In the 10-year history of the Deutschen Kartoffelhandelsverbandes e.V., the traditional Fall-Potato-Fair has always been a special time of year. Exhibitors and guests are coming to this sector meeting, for example, to hear about the first official harvest estimations of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

In the potato trade sector in Europe and Worldwide, these estimations are not only important for Germany. This year the numbers will be highly anticipated since the weather had taken a toll on the production in some areas. How the potatoes are then presented to consumers is a whole other chapter. Shopping habits have never changed as fast as they have in the last few years. Online distribution channels have opened for foods as well, "smart" kitchen appliances, making grocery shopping an experience and finally 3D-printers are revolutionizing the stationary trade.

A look into the colorful world of packaging of the future is provided by M. Sc. Michael Böhmer of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, Dortmund. There will be plenty of issues to discuss afterwards. Last but not least, there will be a potato buffet with live cooking and an amazing view over the roofs of the Hamburg Hafencity for a relaxed and unforgettable evening.
