Ucrania: Has increased its export of late potatoes
Exports of late potatoes from Ukraine in September and October 2018 exceeded 6,300 tons, thereby increasing 15-fold compared with the same period of 2017, say EastFruit analysts.
According to these EastFruit experts, from the beginning of the season (which goes from May to October) Ukraine exported 11,000 tons of potatoes, which exceeded last year’s figure by 3.4%. This was despite the fact that deliveries of potatoes of early varieties began later this year .
It is specified that the largest buyer of early varieties of potatoes is Belarus. Another export destination is Georgia. At the same time, demand for potatoes in the domestic Ukrainian market is limited.
Today, it is possible to buy high-quality potatoes in Ukraine at $0.13 per kg, while prices in Moldova reach $0.21 and in Georgia they can be $0.19 cents per kg.
