Canadá: P.E.I.s early snowfall delays potato harvest

The early snowfall this morning was not a welcome sight for Island potato farmers, who are in the middle of harvest season.

Greg Donald with the P.E.I. Potato Board said the snow won’t damage the crop, but it does make for wet conditions and delays.

"We understand that the snow, particularly in the western part, west Prince ... they had a lot more snow," he said.

"It was already wet in that part of the province. So it’s going to cause more delays to the harvest."

Donald said the harvest is about 65 to 70 per cent complete.
