EEUU: New spud training tool available for retailers.
A new Web tool for retailers is designed to ensure that employees working the produce aisle understand how potatoes get to their stores and what they can do to make the most of them.
The U.S. Potato Board has developed a set of five training modules for fresh potato associates, according to a news release. The modules include information on harvesting, packing, storage, handling potato varieties, nutrition and marketing strategies.
“Not only can training increase sales, but proper storage and handling of the potato table will help maintain quality and decrease shrink,” according to the release.
The training modules are in video form and include a quiz. Retailers’ employees can earn certificates showing they’ve successfully completed the training, according to the release.
