Argelia: Late-season potatoes, the harvest looks set to be excellent in Mila
The late -season potato harvest is expected to be excellent. The yield per hectare has reached 255 quintals, according to Mohammed Benkouiten, head of the organization, production and technical support department at the DSA

According to Benkouiten, local producers have already put on the market more than 75,000 quintals, from the 295 hectares harvested so far. "The sector has cultivated 432 hectares of late -season potatoes (planted in October and harvested between December and January, Editor’s note). More than 75,000 quintals have been harvested so far . The remaining fields are being uprooted . We plan to achieve more than 110,000 quintals at the end of the operation ," he added. The marketing of this harvest must necessarily influence the prices of this product, noted, for his part, Mohammed Djazi, member of the administrative office of the Chamber of Agriculture . "Since the late - season potato has been marketed, prices have returned to values ranging from 40 to 50 dinars per kilo on the wholesale markets," he told us. It should be noted that this product is grown in irrigated mode in the agricultural perimeter of Télaghma, in the south of the wilaya.
