Good harvest expected in Belarus in 2015
This year Belarus intends to get harvest as good as last year’s. The matter was discussed during the working visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Minsk Oblast where he visited the agricultural enterprise Ozeritsky-Agro,BelTA has learned
The head of state was informed about the progress of the spring sowing campaign, which is in full swing. So far 82% of the early spring crops have been sown. Belarus has started sowing all the crops, including potato, flax, sugar beet, and corn.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusyi, the winter crops have survived the winter in a satisfactory manner. The situation regarding winter colza is a bit more complicated since a considerable part of the crops has been damaged by dry winter. This is why it is necessary to sow spring colza on an area of 90,000ha by 25 April.
Thanks to the availability of all the resources and the observance of technologies this year Belarus is expected to get harvest as good as last year’s, noted Mikhail Rusyi.During the working visit Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with the organization of potato planting and the sowing of fodder crops in the enterprise Ozeritsky-Agro.
He also visited the dairy farm Zadomlya, which the enterprise operates. The President was informed about the construction and equipment of the dairy farm. Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with the modern processes used to make milk at the farm. Apart from that, the President was informed about the performance of the animal husbandry industry in the country as a whole, in Minsk Oblast and in Smolevichi District.
The head of state was informed about the fulfillment of his instructions to build modern dairy farms. As of 1 March as many as 1,029 dairy farms were commissioned all over the country.
