Armenia: Sharp increase in potato prices
The sharp increase in potato prices that has now reached around 400 drams (over 80 cents) has caused a great deal of anxiety among the public.
Recently the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement that the high price for potatoes is seasonal and is conditioned by early crops of the Ararat plain, the harvest of which finishes in July, so the late crops harvest of September will put an end to such price hikes.Referring to the statement Pipoyan said that it does not mention the real solution to the problem.
“The state body shouldn’t just explain why such a thing has happened, but bring arguments which will show the cause of the problem and its solution,” he adds.
