Paraguay: Small producers in Coronel Oviedo manage to sell potato production and strengthen the local economy.
The product was sold at an average price of 65,000 guaraníes per 20-kilogram bag, representing a significant injection of resources for small farmers in the area and a concrete boost to the department’s economy.

Producers in the Coronel Oviedo district of Caaguazú Department have successfully sold more than 25,000 kilos of potatoes, strengthening the local economy and generating direct income for dozens of rural families engaged in family farming.
The Costa Varela Producers Association and the Aguapey Producers Committee sold more than 20,000 kilos, while the Zarocaro Committee contributed another 5,000 kilos, distributed among the local market, the Abasto Market, and the Zero Hunger Program.
The product was sold at an average price of 65,000 guaraníes per 20-kilogram bag, representing a significant injection of resources for small farmers in the area and a concrete boost to the department’s economy.
The cultivation, harvesting, and selection work was supported by the Local Technical Assistance Agency (Alat) of Coronel Oviedo, to ensure product quality and improve the yield of the plots.
The seeds used were provided by the Municipality of Coronel Oviedo, as part of a joint effort between public institutions and the private sector. This collaboration allowed for increased productivity, improved agricultural practices, and fostered sustainability on family farms.
