Winter storms hampered staggered planting, resulting in a build-up of production.
The potato sector in Andalusia is facing a critical situation, as reported by Juan Antonio Romero, representative of the Coordinator of Farmers’ and Livestock Breeders’ Organizations (COAG). The flooding of the market with potatoes has caused prices to plummet , a direct consequence of the severe winter storms that prevented farmers from planting at their usual time. In their search for favorable conditions, they opted for simultaneous planting across the entire region.
