An Indian court has rejected PepsiCo Inc.’s appeal against a decision invalidating a patent for a variety of potatoes grown exclusively for its popular Lay’s potato chips, Reuters reports.
The "stressed potato" scandal erupted in connection with subsidies paid under the National Recovery Plan.
Potato producer CêlaVíta has gone bankrupt, Omroep Gelderland reports. Employees were informed of the bankruptcy on Tuesday afternoon, August 12th. The company had been struggling financially for some time.
