Peru (Huánuco): Producers make their first direct sale of yellow potatoes to an agribusiness company
This creates new business opportunities for family farming.
The Churacan Agricultural Producers Association, located in the district of San Rafael, province of Ambo (Huánuco), successfully sold more than six tons of Tumbay yellow potatoes directly to the agro-industrial company Inkacrop. This achievement was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) through its Agromercado program, which fostered the commercial relationship between the two parties.
In a historic event for the association, this operation was finalized by connecting Inkacrop’s demand for raw materials with the organized supply of local producers. This allowed farmers to access, for the first time, an agro-industrial market with greater added value.
