EEUU: Potato Fest eyes french fry feed record
That’s the overriding sentiment as the annual event celebrating spuds nears. Potato Fest organizers, in conjunction with Simplot, hope to serve enough people french fries that the weight of potatoes served eclipses that of 5,220 lbs, set last year in

“It was just an idea that I had that we wanted to do to have some fun,” said Devin Waldner, sanitation supervisor at Simplot. “We’re big supporters of Potato Fest, so we thought we would have a little fun and try to break the record. We thought it would help promote Potato Fest and be a fun thing for Portage and families.”
Festival goers will have their work cut out for them this year if they want to be crowned world record holders, as last year’s french fry yield saw approximately 3,600 lbs of potato consumed, 1,620 lbs shy of what Grand Forks accomplished.
“I just want everyone to come out and have some fun, bring your kids and families and grandmas and grandpas,” said Waldner. “Basically come out and have fun at the Potato Fest, eat some french fries while you’re at it. Come hungry.”
