Rusia: Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects same potato yield as last year
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects 31.5 million tons of potatoes to be collected in Russia in 2015, as well as 15.8 million tons of vegetables.
“According to the prognosis, the amount of potato harvest from all types of farms is expected to meet the same level as last year- 31.5 million tons,” the authority stated in a report.
It was mentioned that, since 19 October 2015, the harvest of potatoes from agricultural enterprises and farm holdings were nearing completion.
94% of the area had been harvested and 7.2 million tons, 24% higher that last year’s data has been collected.
In addition, in total this year 300,000 more tons of vegetables are planned to be harvested, than last year. Thus, the harvest of vegetables will reach 15.8 million tons, so was noted in the report.
To date, 83% of field vegetables in agricultural enterprises and farm holdings have been harvested, amounting to 3.3 million tons.
