Bangladesh: Tuber development program attracts farmers
The Tuber Crop Development which was developed in 2012, in Gaibandha, Bangladesh, has attracted farmers who are now producing tuber crops successfully.
Under the project, five types of tuber crops, yam, pani-kachu, muki-kachu, ol and sweet potato, are being produced at farmers’ level through motivating the farmers.To inspire other local farmers in farming the variety in the next season, a discussion meeting, organised by the Fulchhari Upazila Agriculture Office, was held on the Chandia Women’s College premises Sunday.The agri-experts urged the farmers to cultivate the variety at a large scale on their high and fallow land.Talking to the news agency, Project Director Dr Abul Hossain said apart from the district, the activities of the project are also being conducted in 25 other areas of different districts of the country, including Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Bhola.Source: thefinancialexpress-bd.com
