Alemania: Exquisite new potato varieties at wholesales center in Frankfurt

In addition to the already available varieties, as Vitelotte, Amandine, La Ratte, Charlotte, Cherie, Corne de Gate and Bleue d’Auvergne, the following are available at the market too:

Blue Belle is a relatively early, oval, potato with medium yellow flesh. The yellow skin has blue purple spots. The potato has a fine and tender taste and is suitable for almost all potato dishes. The average size is between 35 to 55 mm. 

Roseval is a relatively early, long oval potato. The potato has a thin, smooth and deep red skin, with yellow flesh and thin red streaks in it. The about 20 to 55 mm large Roseval has an excellent almost sweet taste and is suitable for all recipes.

Magenta Love, is a longish potato with a red smooth skin and red flesh. The potato has a slightly nutty and mild taste and is suitable for almost all potato dishes.

Its diameter is about 20 to 55 mm.The potato of the year 2015 is the Heideniere variety. This excellent tasting potato with a deep yellow color comes from Soltau, Lower Saxony and has been cultivated for over 60 years. The German name refers to its kidney shape. In 1953 the first potatoes got a huge amount of praise, not only was it the best potatoes for salads, it was also an excellent and delicious potato for hotel catering.

That hasn’t changed much, the sales of the Heideniere potato at regional street and farmers markets and local farms is so successful that the sales by wholesale markets is almost impossible, even though they tried their hardest.
