Siria: Allows import of 25,000 tonnes of Egyptian potatoes
The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade has authorised the import of 25 thousand tonnes of fresh potatoes from Egypt exclusively for the current season.
The Ministry released a statement outlining what the application procedures will be. These will be handled by the corresponding departments of foreign trade, pointing out that each application must not exceed the amount of one thousand tonnes of potatoes. All applications must be made before 15 March and the corresponding volumes delivered before 30 March 2016.
According to the circular, all potato imports from Egypt will once again be blocked after the specified volume is reached.
