Peru (Huancavelica): Acobamba is making significant progress towards the industrialization of native potatoes
This outstanding infrastructure will facilitate an increase in production capacity and add greater value to one of the region’s most emblematic crops.
With the symbolic ceremony of laying the first stone, the Regional Management of Economic Development of Huancavelica, together with Procompite, began the construction of the Native Potato Processing Plant destined for the Unión Pomavilca Association, located in the district and province of Acobamba.
This highly significant project will increase production capacity and add greater value to one of the region’s most emblematic crops, thus boosting local economic development.
Acobamba marks a historic milestone towards the industrialization of native potatoes, strengthening the role of the Unión Pomavilca Association and highlighting the agricultural potential of Huancavelica.
The plant will feature modern infrastructure covering 570 m², distributed across processing areas, a general warehouse, restrooms, a yard, and a perimeter fence. The investment, totaling S/267,700, has a 54-day construction period. It also includes electrical and plumbing installations, along with additional equipment designed to enhance the competitiveness of local producers.
With this initiative, Procompite reaffirms its commitment to the productive development of the region, promoting the transformation of raw materials, the generation of employment and the opening of new markets for the agricultural organizations of Huancavelica.
