Australia: Victorian Potato Growers Council rebrands
On March 22, the Victorian Potato Growers Council, a division of the Victorian Farmers Federation, announced their rebranding as Potatoes Victoria.

The decision was made to benefit the organisation’s members and is set to help in consultation with all tiers of government, according to chairman Frank Rovers.
The Victorian Potato Growers Council had been the peak industry body representing Victorian potato growers for more than 20 years.
“The rebranding clearly spells out who we represent to government and industry stakeholders,” Mr Rovers said. “We intend to continue to represent Victorian potato growers to all levels of government and to support growers with issues affecting their business.”
The industry group will continue working closely with Agriculture Victoria and VicSpa — an independent provider of seed potato certification — to finalise an industry-owned action plan.
The plan will be in response to the newly developed Potato Industry Strategic Plan, which aims to guide research and development until 2017 and involves creating a well-trained, state-of-the-art market and growth-oriented industry.
Potatoes Victoria will also complete an industry stocktake and analysis and hold industry events on issues affecting growers.
