EEUU (MN): Referendum for potato growers
Potato growers voted to pass a referendum increasing its check-off fee.
The council requested an increase from USD 0.3 per hundredweight to USD 0.5 per hundredweight.The increase pertains only to growers in Area I, which is located in northwest, Minnesota.
Through an automatic check-off program, farmers pay a percentage of their sale proceeds to their commodity council. Commodity councils use these funds to pay for promotion, communication, and research activities aimed at increasing profitability for growers.
