Bélgica: Strong market for Fontane and industrial varieties
Industrial varieties: firm market with rising prices. Supply remains reluctant, and the demand is variable: none for some buyers, strong for others! The market could still move, depending on the weather!
General price, 35 mm+, min 60% 50 mm+, min 360 gr/5kg EPS, bulk, friable, selling price, excluding VAT, direct delivery:
Fontane: €6,00 – €11,00/a, (with a majority of transactions between €8 and €11.00/a). These prices are for known trades in recent days, but the market is strong, and prices are rising: make sure you check this out daily!
Bintje: starting at €1,00 and €2,00/a, strong market for the last friable batches.
Challenger: Information unavailable due to lack of transactions.
Other varieties: Markies, Agria,… price above €10,00/a
Early Belgian: no price. The first plantings will yield quite acceptable results (over 35 t/ha), sufficient in size, despite the lack of water. For the later plantings (sometimes with a 4-7 weeks delay), yields are already inevitably affected.

On July 06, the price for firm pulp potatoes on the fresh market (Rhineland) was at €28,00/a, and at €26,00/a for soft pulp. For early firm pulp potatoes sold at farms (Rhineland) the price varies, starting at €11 and €12,00/a per 25 kg bag (- €2). In potatoes for the industry (fries), conventional or refrigerated storage, prices have sharply risen, starting at €5 and €8,00/a (€4,00/a in the previous week). The peelers and processors still have old ones at a good price, while the first early potatoes good for the industry will be available at the end of the week, and the beginning of next week.
Indigenous early crops: rapid decline in producer prices in the past week. The global offer, with more Israeli potatoes available, has lowered producer prices faster than expected. Early potatoes at €28,00/a (€21,63/a last year on the same date).
The drought persists, and some begin to worry about mid-early and late potatoes. There are less good tuberizations, larger sizes, and overall lower yields.
Indigenous early organic crops: after the sales on the farm and in the organic stores, the first indigenous organic potatoes (from the Palatinate) arrived in supermarkets. Trade price starting at €77 and €83,00/a 10 days ago.
*you will have to deduct €1,00/a from these prices in their starting fields in the table above for sorting fees
Great Britain
Average producer price (all markets combined) week 26: €11,29/a.
With persistent drought, irrigation systems suffering, producers not buying, fields without irrigation show high EPS as well as insufficient sizes.
