The Markies potato variety has become the number one choice for potato chips in Kenya. The variety is also increasingly demanded by Kenya’s crisping industry.

Norda is a fast-growing FMCG company based in Nairobi, Kenya. It manufactures high quality snacks throughout the East Africa region. The company currently manufactures several popular snacks under successful brand names each with their own identity in the market. All its snack and confectionery products are manufactured at its factory in Nairobi.
This means that, by growing Markies, Kenyan farmers acquire access to two different processing industries at the same time. The potato chips industry in general prefers the large Markies potatoes and the potato crisping industry favors the smaller Markies sizes.
