Brazil: Onion prices rise due to lower foreign imports
The price increase exceeds 50%

This week (April 14-17), onion prices rose in Ituporanga (SC) due to the lower arrival of Argentine products in recent days, and also due to increased demand.
Even with the reduced quality of the products, a factor that limited sales in recent weeks, onion production increased, explained both by the preparation of dishes for Easter this Sunday (20), and by the Tiradentes holiday next Monday (21), which made buyers bring forward their orders.
Thus, red onions closed the week at R$1.64/kg on the market, a sharp increase of 50.80% compared to the previous closing price.
