Poland: Potato prices 2025 – how much do potatoes cost in Poland according to the Central Statistical Office?

May 2025 brought a noticeable movement in the agricultural products market . Overall, purchase prices of basic agricultural products recorded an increase of 2.1% compared to the previous month and an impressive increase of 15.0% compared to the same period last year.

However, among all agricultural products, the prices of one behaved completely differently - we are talking about potatoes . While most agricultural products recorded increases, the prices of potatoes on both markets, both in purchase and on marketplaces, fell significantly.

Potato prices 2025

In May 2025, according to analyses conducted by the Central Statistical Office, 1 deciton (dt) of potatoes at purchase cost an average of PLN 129.11. On the other hand, potatoes reached a price of PLN 209.90 per dt at marketplaces.

In a month-to-month perspective, we see a clear downward trend. The purchase price of potatoes in May was 11.5% lower compared to April 2025. A similar, although to a lesser extent, reduction was observed at marketplaces. Prices fell by 1.2% compared to the previous month.

Potato prices 2024 and 2025

Even more dramatic changes can be seen when comparing potato prices with the same period last year. The purchase price of potatoes in May 2025 was 14.1% lower than in May 2024. At marketplaces, the drop was equally significant – 14.3%.

This is important information, considering that the overall increase in the prices of basic agricultural products year-on-year was as much as 15.0%, and the prices of most agricultural products recorded an increase both in the purchase and on the markets compared to May 2024, with the exception of potatoes and oats and live pigs in the purchase. Potatoes are one of the few exceptions.
