Brazil: Frost could affect potato supplies in the coming weeks
Rains in the south damaged the harvest during the week.

This week (June 21-27), prices for Agata specialty potatoes averaged R$63/sc in the wholesale markets of São Paulo (SP) (-16.3%), R$57/sc in Belo Horizonte (MG) (stable) and R$63/sc in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) (stable).
Rainfall, mainly in the southern and southeastern regions, slowed the pace of the harvest, resulting in lower supplies.
Demand for potatoes also decreased due to the end of the month, when people’s purchasing power is typically lower, putting pressure on prices and/or limiting the rise in tuber prices.
Due to this week’s frost, a slowdown in supply is possible starting next week, depending on the extent of crop damage.
