Germany: Fungicides against late blight and Alternaria in potatoes are no longer as effective as they were a few years ago.
Yield losses, increased use of active ingredient mixtures, resistance: Potato growers are fighting Phytophthora.

The elimination of pesticides and the simultaneous increase in resistance are a concern for farmers. ( Survey)
In assessing the situation, especially regarding the control of late blight and other leaf diseases, 238 potato professionals participated over five days.
Seventeen percent of participants stated they are still adapting well to the available fungicides. The remaining 83% are using more products, seeing decreased efficacy, or experiencing significant effects on yield.
One third uses more active ingredients, one third fights resistance.
For 30 percent, the products are still effective, but they have to use more active ingredients than before. The largest group of respondents, 31 percent, say they are seeing increasing resistance to fungicide active ingredients.
Sixteen percent reported increased yield losses due to a lack of active ingredients. Six percent of participants abandoned potato cultivation because pesticides were no longer effective enough.
