Argentina: Lamb Weston completed the first production test at its new Mar del Plata plant.

Lamb Weston International, a leading supplier of frozen potato and sweet potato products to restaurants and retailers worldwide, successfully completed its first full-scale production trial at the new plant located in the General Savio Industrial Park in Mar del Plata. The trial resulted in a product of excellent commercial quality, marking an important step toward the official opening of the facility in October.

This milestone is part of the plant’s commissioning process, a phase in which the equipment is approved under real-world production conditions. The success of this first outage confirms that the integrated system is operating as intended and lays the groundwork for the next production runs leading up to launch. 

“ This is more than a technical test; it’s a visible sign of progress toward full operation,” said Romina Broda, Vice President of Latam at Lamb Weston . “It reflects months of teamwork and a strong commitment to the development of Argentina’s agro-industrial sector.” 

“The first large-scale cut is an important validation for the entire team,” added Alejandro Lute, director of operations at the Lamb Weston Argentina plant. “ It demonstrates that our technology, our processes, and our people are working exactly as planned.”

The Mar del Plata plant has already created approximately 250 direct jobs and is expected to generate 3,000 indirect jobs. Once fully operational, it will become one of the most modern processing plants in the region, reinforcing Lamb Weston’s role as a leader in innovation and a key employer in the Argentine food industry.
