Spain: Coristanco’s Kennebec aspires to be the best potato of the year
He will participate in a tasting-competition promoted by the Association of Producing Villages, in Xinzo de Limia

Will Coristanco’s Kennebec be the best potato of the year?
You’ll have to see it on Friday, September 5th. At 7:00 p.m., in the Alimagro Fair tent in Xinzo de Limia, the Association of Potato Producing Towns will hold the first edition of its Potato Tasting Competition.
The initiative seeks to recognize and reward excellence among the many varieties that enrich the country’s gastronomy, even though varieties from the Canary Islands cannot be included due to the prohibition of potato movement between the archipelago and the peninsula.
Spain has a rich heritage in this regard, and the jury, master tasters, will evaluate six varieties: texture, flavor, aroma...
Coristanco will compete with its Kennebec variety alongside Spunta (Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz), Soprano (Cartagena, Murcia), Donata (Medina del Campo, Valladolid), Agria (Xinzo de Limia, Ourense) and Cimega (La Rinconada, Seville).
Any fan is also given the opportunity to be a jury member in what the organizing body defines as a "historical tasting."
To help you choose the best potato, you must register using the form.
