Brazil: Even with the supply decreasing, prices vary little
With the winter harvest coming to an end, the supply is less intense.
This week (from October 27 to 31), the average price of the Agata special potato was R$ 39.88/25 kg sack in the wholesale market of São Paulo (no change), R$ 41.19/sack in Rio de Janeiro (+4.2%) and R$ 39.07/sack in Belo Horizonte (no change).
Despite rains that slightly affected the harvest and reduced supply due to the approaching end of the winter harvest, the typical end-of-month sales slowdown prevented price increases in São Paulo and limited rises in other wholesale markets. In Rio de Janeiro, low liquidity was exacerbated by crackdowns on criminal groups.
The first tubers from the rainy season harvest are expected to arrive on the market in November, starting in the southern regions.
