Chile: Regional potato working group reactivated at INIA Remehue
At the INIA Remehue facilities, the Ministry of Agriculture has reactivated the Regional Potato Roundtable in the Los Lagos Region, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The sectoral meeting was led by the Regional Secretary of Agriculture for the Los Lagos Region, Francisco Cárcamo, who detailed the ministerial strategic guidelines established for the sector.
The meeting brought together environmental authorities, representatives of agricultural services, producers, academics, researchers and members of the private sector to coordinate the protection of agricultural heritage.
Among the central objectives of the reactivation is the formation of an executive committee that coordinates efforts to boost this strategic crop in the regional and national economy.
The official meeting included the active participation and representation of the following institutional and trade association actors:
Lorena Leichtle: Regional Secretary of the Environment of the Los Lagos Region present at the technical activity.
Francisco Cárcamo: Regional Secretary of Agriculture for the Los Lagos Region and in charge of leading the meeting.
INIA: Agricultural Research Institute, represented through the INIA Remehue regional center.
SAG: Agricultural and Livestock Service, responsible for phytosanitary inspection and protection.
INDAP: Institute for Agricultural Development, an entity linked to the support of peasant family farming.
