Italia: Good potato season
"The potato season has gone well regarding both quality and yields, which are superior to 2015," reports Antonio Ruggiero; a company that produces and commercialises around 100 thousand tons of potatoes and carrots every year.
"The low yields registered abroad (harvesting is still ongoing in Northern Europe due to the weather) and good demand helped keep quotations up. The market is therefore going well, also thanks to the lower temperatures, which will push demand and therefore quotations. This situation has been confirmed also during the latest Borse Patate meeting, which stressed the good perspective for domestic produce as well."

The presence on the market of German potatoes is therefore not considered a problem, even though they are sold at competitive prices. Produce from other European countries are not posing any pressure on the Italian market.
"Demand is constant for all our lines. Our regional range is particularly appealing."
