According to producers, the main factor behind the price decline is seasonality, with supply increasing daily. At the same time, the quality of the potatoes on offer is often poor, which also puts pressure on prices.
Compared to last year, Belgium and Germany in particular purchased fewer table potatoes from the Netherlands. This is evident from export figures published last week by the Dutch Potato Organisation (NAO).
